First printing signed by the author at top corner of reverse of front endpaper, near fine red cloth hardcover shows touch of soil at page edges and bit of pencil shadow at top corner of front endpaper, in a very good dust jacket (price at flap) that shows some soil, faint stain at fore edge of front panel more visible at reverse, tiny closed chip along spine, and edgewear that includes wrinkling and tiny open chips. 229 pages with black & whites, bibliography and endpaper maps. Still an attractive signed copy of this pioneering narrative of life in Big Hole that tells "..the story of a valley located high in the Rocky Mountains of southwestern Montana" Signed.
