About This Item
Tokyo: Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture, 1995. First Edition, First Printing. Softcover. Fine. 211 pp. : illustrations (some color), portraits ; 30 cm. 4to. Softcover. Stiff photo-illustrated French wraps. Includes scarce original transmittal envelope, an ingenious thin cardboard multi-fold chemise, addressed to Michael Feingold, the long time New York theatre credit who wrote for the Village Voice for over twenty years. Book Condition: absolutely fine, pristine. A very sharp copy. Transmittal envelope shows bumps and bruises consistent with a long journey from Tokyo to New York in a variety of mail bags but is completely intact. There's always been a certain hautiness about the superiority of the Japanese catalog's production values but having never been able to view the two editions side by side we cannot confirm or deny the truth in this preference. We can say that the reproductions in this volume are extraordinarily beautiful. The exhibition consists of works from the George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film, Rochester, New York. Catalogue of an exhibition held at Metropolitan Museum of Photography (Tokyo), 18 Nov. 1995 - 15 Jan. 1996.
