The book, by Earhart's husband, is primarily a compilation of hand-written diary entries, Earhart's writings that cover the period from March 1937 up until her final entry on July 1, the day before her plane was reported missing en route to Howland Island in the South Pacific. The boards are much worn, marked, stained from handling, ownership and storage. The spine is faded. They are steady and sure. The contents are mild-mannered. There is ample evidence of ample use throughout with some wear and creases and marks. In general, and by far, the pages are contented, relaxed, clean and clear, certain, convivial, companionable. fk
