Blue cloth with gilt lettering on spine and slight bumping/wear to corners and spine. Maps on endpapers. Both with B/W frontispiece. B/W plates and fold-out maps throughout. Volume 1 with pictoral dust jacket with minor chipping at top of spine. Volume II no dust jacket. Generally a fine bright set. good to very good Volume I in three parts: life and personnel in sail, with a chapter on the history of Cape Horn; vessels in the big sailing ship trades; and smaller ships while Volume II deals with the period 1888-1928. A classic study. 1963
