OR another giftee Nov. 1897 OR a third owner Chas. W. Wright July 1901. -- Hardcover, 3/4 leather, marbled endsheets. Condition: fair (pages are bright and clear, BUT cover detached; inch chip spine crown; spine leather alligatored).

Ignatius Kohler was located at 202 N. 4th St., the address in the imprint, from 1860 to 1879; WorldCat records assign 1869 to this title. Each page contains a hand-colored woodcut with a parable; text is entirely in German. Very scarce. In Good- Condition: cover is heavily finger-soiled; lower edge of back cover dampstained; text block separated from cover; finger soiling throughout; minimal dampstain at lower edge of some leaves; hand-colored woodcuts are clean and bright.

Written at head of title page: "Stephen Elliott 1841." A few marginal notations. In Good Condition: lacking much leather over spine and some from both boards, which are still attached; faint dampstain and light soiling on title page and first pages thereafter; otherwise, clean and tight.
