Harmondsworth, Middlesex, UK Penguin Books, 1969. Paperback First Edition Thus [1969]; unstated, in accordance with Penguin's customary practice. No subsequent printings listed. First Edition Thus [1969]; unstated, in accordance with Penguin's customary practice. No subsequent printings listed. Very Good in Wraps: shows indications of careful use: light wear to the extremities; moderate rubbing and faint soiling to the panels; the expected light tanning to the text pages, due to aging; the binding leans very slightly and shows some stress creases to the backstrip, but remains secure; the text is clean. Free of creased or dog-eared pages in the text. Free of underlining, hi-lighting, notations, or marginalia. Free of any ownership names, dates, addresses, notations, inscriptions, stamps, plates, or labels. A handsome copy, structurally sound and tightly bound, showing moderate wear and a couple of minor cosmetic imperfections. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 12mo.(7.15 x 4.35 x 1.05 inches). 479 pages. Language: English. Weight: 9.8 ounces. Mass Market Paperback. Sir Angus Frank Johnstone-Wilson, CBE (1913 – 1991) was an English novelist and short story writer. He was one of England's first openly gay authors. He was awarded the 1958 James Tait Black Memorial Prize for The Middle Age of Mrs Eliot and later received a knighthood for his services to literature. This was his sixth novel and a rich one, about a dysfunctional family filled with characters fascinatingly flawed. The plots are "page turning", 'can't put it down for each character. The prose is excellent, not verbose, and every word 'tells'.
