Pages are mildly tanned and foxed, heavier to endpapers, but text remains clear. Binding is firm. Pencil inscriptions to front free endpaper. Boards and spine have minimal shelf-wear, with mild corner bumping and crushing to ends. Spine and edges are heavily sunned. Gilt remains bright. Moderate rubbing and scuffing overall.

First edition, 8vo, pp. ix, [1], 325, [1]; near fine in original beige cloth, price-clipped dust jacket with some wrinkling and a couple of spots on front cover. Inscribed by Teller: "To Dr. V. A. Davidson, Edward Teller." Edward Teller (1908-2003) was a Hungarian-American theoretical physicist who is known colloquially as "the father of the hydrogen bomb" (see the Teller-Ulam design), although he did not care for the title, considering it to be in poor taste" (see Wikipedia for a long entry).
