2008. ISBN-13: 9781584778738; ISBN-10: 1584778733. President Jackson and The Second Bank of the United States Moulton, R.K. Legislative and Documentary History of the Banks of the United States from the Time of Establishing the Bank of North America, 1781, to October, 1834: with Notes and Comments. New York: G. & C. Carvill & Co., 1834. v, 227 pp. Reprinted 2008 by The Lawbook Exchange, Ltd. ISBN-13: 9781584778738. ISBN-10: 1584778733. Cloth. New. $23.95 * One of the most hotly contested issues of the 1830s was the legitimacy of the Second Bank of the United States (Bank of North America). After a lengthy and bitter struggle President Jackson vetoed the renewal of the bank's charter in 1832. According to the preface, this work aims "to lay before the people such a statement of facts as the compiler conceives will enable them to form a correct opinion upon the subject" (iii). The work is both a useful anthology of relevant documents and an interesting guide to contemporary opinion.
