Charles Macfarlane (1799-1858) travelled extensively in Turkey in 1827 and again in 1847. His travel works included Constantinople in 1828. Sir Benjamin Hawes (1797-1862), Whig politician, brother-in-law of Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
