Pamphlet of 36 pp. originally string bound but bound into 24mo. hardcovers of green cloth over black patterned spine. The contemporary business card of Joseph J. Ely, Attorney-At-Law in Hightstown is affixed to the front pastedown. The original blank wraps of the pamphlet are bound in. Very scarce, OCLC locates no copies and we have not encountered another not do we find a listing in Felcone. The only external source located concerning this piece is from A Cnetury Of Universalism" by Abel Charles Thomas (1872), in the section "Universalism In Hightsown". The entry is as follows: "---Dated April 11, 1835, I find a letter to Rev. Levi. S. Beebee, pastor of the Second Presbyterian Church in Upper Freehold, New Jresey by Joseph J. Ely, Esq. It is a review of a sermon delivered March 15 preceeding, taken in memoranda. Though written during "a very busy season with the farmers", and somewhat diffuse, the letter is a comprehensive exposition of the principal passages of Scripture urged against Universalism. It was first published in "The Christian Messenger" and afterward had large circulation in pamphlet form...". The title page is imprinted "RE-PRINT" above the printer's name and the date 1835 so the assumption is that this is one of the pamphlets that reprinted Rev. Beebee's sermon after the Christian newspaper apperarance.
