Downing Street, 13 November 1780. 1 page 9 x 7 inches, in good condition, with the integral address leaf, postal marks. Discussions about prize money from the American War between two naval Captains. Vice-Admiral John Ford (d.1796) was commissioned as Lieutenant in 1761. His war services included the Battle of the Chesapeake (1781) and the Battle of the Saintes (1782) as Captain of HMS Nymphe. Ford was Captain of HMS Carnatic 1789-1792. He was appointed Commander in Chief at Jamaica in 1793, and took part in the Operations against San Domingo (1794).
