About This Item

18 gatherings side-stabbed. All gatherings untrimmed at top, fore and tail edges; unopened at top edges; paginated [3], 4 - 137. Clean with foxing on prelims and final leaves; light foxing internally; untrimmed lower fore corner rubbed, dog-eared - not affecting text. Cf. OCLC 166619014. This Senate version not in Sabin. Sabin #43713 is the House version, which Harvard & Yale libraries hold. U Mich appears to have Senate version. Greely describes House version (p 474) and notes there were several 'editions' of Senate version (p. 454) but does not list this as is. House version appears to have same title with printer 'A & G Way' and dated 23 March 1808. Correspondence begins with Jan 5 1804 communication from Sec of State Madison to Minister Plenipotentiary to Great Britain, Monroe, with proposed Convention (and negotiating tactics) between U.S. & Britain regarding impressment of seamen and related maritime matters. Final communication dated May 22, 1807. 24 cm x 15 cm.
