Hardcover. 8vo. 22cm, xv,256p., in contemporary half tan calf,raised bands, full gilt decorations in the panels, crushed crimsonmorocco label, blind ruled borders on marbled boards, marbled endpapersand edges, some foxing, ownership inscription at head of title dated1829, very good to fine copy of the First Edition. (tr) Palau 519; Sabin14; SmithAl. Going to Cuba for his health in 1828, the author wrote aseries of sixty-five letters describing his considerable travel byhorseback over the island. His observations cover what he saw and sensedin these trips up and down the island.
