London: Logographic Press (Prefs), 1790. Hardcover . Used - fair. Sm 8vo. Three volume set. Full leather with designs and ornaments in gilt. Volume 1 with two illustrations and Volumes 2 and 3 with one each, three of the four following the placement called for in the 1785 edition and one with the baptism illustration following that of the 1790 edition. White spotting to the yellow textblock edges of each volume. Joints to Volume 1 crudely repaired but effective. Upper 2-3/4' of spine on Volume 2 loose but attached, rear board of Volume 3 detached. The parts of the bindings which were mentioned as loose are stabilized with the use of mylar covers. Textblocks of all 3 volumes clean, square, and tight, except for faint remains of heavy-handed pencil scribbling on title page of Volume 1. The gilt title lettering on red leather labels of spines are quite clear, the volume numbers less so. The set probablly needs re-backing, still the binder will have sturdy textblocks and marbled endpapers to work with, albeit the marbled free endpapers with a 3/8' band darkened around the rim, corresponding to the leather trim on pastedowns. A scarce edition.
