Philadelphia: T. K. And P. G. Collins, 1837. Title page dated 1837 and stated as sixth edition. Pseudo-autobiography about Crockett's thrilling adventures and escapes, geographical and political information about Texas, and a narrative by a supposed eyewitness after his death. Worn but sound in light brown cloth with remains of a barely legible spine label, viii, 216 pages preceded by four pages of publisher's ads, undetermined whether this edition included a frontis engraving, but there is none here and no evidence that there ever was one. Covers worn, spotted and with fraying to corners, spine ends and rear joing, hinges internally cracked but covers well attached, text block sound, front free endpaper neatly trimmed at bottom and top, pages age-toned and uniformly foxed but clean, old pencil notes on rear free endpaper, no names or other markings. Notes from 1974 laid in loosely at the front from a bookseller indicated that the stated sixth edition is probably the second edition.. Hard… Read More
