Half bound in light brown calf and pebbled brown cloth. five raised bands on spine with title, in gilt, on red leather inset and author, in gilt, on dark blue leather inset, marbled page edges, plain endpapers. "Faculty of Procurators in Glasgow" is stamped in gilt on the upper boards of both volumes. Leather rubbed along edges; internally clean and unmarked. Volume 1 frontispiece engraving of Napier in military uniform; Volume 2 frontispiece engraving of Napier at age 68. Overall a handsome set. pp. 556 & 578.. First Edition. Hard Cover.
