Half-title, engraved frontispiece, and 19 other plates, with imprint of Thomas Gosden, title with vignette, engraved text illus.; vi+93pp. 8vo (8.25 x 5.25in) orig. calf gilt, by THOMAS GOSDEN [1780-1843], worn, scuff on Walton's face, rebacked, retaining orig. spine, hinges strengthened, a.e.g., A well-printed biography of Walton in a scarce and interesting binding. The front cover has a central blind stamp with a portrait of Walton surrounded by decorations of fishing trophies, below the 'Anglers greeting' at foot 'Bound by T. Gosden St Martins Lane', the rear cover is similar but with a portrait of Charles Cotton. and below 'The Boathouse'. There is a similar binding of this work in the British Library : Davis 262. Gosden specialised in binding sporting books.
