This Quarter was founded in 1925 by the American expatriate poet Ernest Walsh [1895-1926] and the English suffragette Ethel Moorhead [1869-1955]. Only two issues of the quarterly had been published when Walsh died of consumption at the age of thirty-one, and after a period of turbulence and only sporadic publication, This Quarter was taken over by Edward Titus of the Black Manikin Press, a highbrow expatriate imprint based in Paris.
