A. L. Burt, ca. 1900. Hardcover. Good. Green cloth with blind stamped borders and gilt stamped spine; top edges gilt. "Cornell Series" at base of spine (instead of A. L. Burt). The title page states "With illustrations by Gordon Browne", but the only illustration is the frontispiece. The extrerior is in very good condition with light rubbing and wear. The interior has an ink inscription, dated June 13, 1900, on the title page and the text leaves are browned with age.

ondon- W. Nicol for John Major, 1831 Book. Hardcover. A two volume set of Robinson Crusoe in a superbmorocco binding. The first to be illustrated by George Cruikshank with numerous vignettes and a frontispiece to each volume. George Cruikshank was a British caricaturist and book illustrator known for his illustrations of many 19th century works and, in particular, for the illustrated to the novels of his friend Charles Dickens. His illustrations for Robinson Crusoe were popular as a fresh representation of the much loved novel. Robinson Crusoe is a novel presented as an autobiography of a Scottish castaway who lived for four years on a Pacific Island. It was well received in the literary world and has been published in several editions. Condition: In full crushed morocco bindings with gilt top edge, gilt to spine and raised bands. Externally, excellent, with just some light shelfwear. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally bright with spotting throughout, heavier title page and plates. Original cloth binding preserved and bound in. Overall:VERY GOOD INDEED.

Blindstamped dark blue-green cloth with spine lettered and decorated in gilt with a depiction of Crusoe. 417 pps. , "illustrated with characteristic engravings" (woodcuts). A tight, rather handsome copy with spine gilt a touch tarnished but still generally bright. Rear cloth has a small area of dampstaining which extends minimally to the rear endpapers and blanks.
