New York: Platt & Munk, Publishers. Very Good+ in Good dust jacket 1935. Hardcover. Dust Jacket: still bright illustration of Sambo's mother serving pancakes to him as Sambo eats one. Book: Two brilliant color illustrations on each page. Blue cloth with black illustration on front of Sambo with umbrella by a tiger. This is a fabulous anthology of Sambo tales. The first is written and illustrated by Bannerman, the creator of Sambo. The other 5 stories are written and illustrated by FRANK VER BECK and include: Sambo & the Elephant; Sambo & the monkey people; Sambo & the tiger kitten; Sambo in the bear's den and Sambo & the crocodiles. All illustations in color. Book: Bumped corners (some color is missing) , 2 inch tear & 1/2 inch tear on back along spine (not sure why). Slight rubbing on bottom board. Flyleaf was dog eared at one point. Neatly written inscription on a person's name (no date). Slight foxing and fingerprints on endpapers and some pages. One 2 inch tear on page 40. Book opens up easily. (Book overall is better than it sounds. ) Dust Jacket (amazing to have one! ) : Tears, rips, rubbing, large chips , scratches, 1 taped repair, water mark on 1 edge, but still intact. ; 10 1/4 inches; 64 pages .

Elaborate gilt and blind stamped decoration and lettering to the front board. The rear board with a blind stamped decorative panel pattern. Spine fully decorated and lettered in gilt. Off white endpapers. All edges gilt. Some bumping to the extremities and the spine a little dulled but overall a very good copy of this pretty book. A classic piece of decorative Victoriana.
