Nashville, TN: Southern Publishing Association, 1947. 236pp. Illustrated (b/w photographs throughout). Original red cloth with gilt lettering to cover and spine. Color frontis. Pictorial endpapers (a photo of a story-telling session in a black Boy Scout troop). The book includes many uplifting and inspiring stories of famous African American inventors and also includes positive, moralistic, stories for children. This book is written along the same lines as Uncle Arthur's Bedtime Stories of the same era, but this edition was directed toward Black Americans. The story pictures are predominantely of Black Children. Pictures included gives one a glimpse into life in the Southern states for Black Americans during this time-period. Pages are clean (no writing, underlining, or highlighting) but have light finger smudging. Outer page edges have some soiling/light foxing. Binding is loose but not broken. Spine cloth is slightly loose (beginning to detach near top). Head/heal of spine is dented. Covers have moderate scuffing/finger soiled. Corners of covers are beginning to fray. Board edges are rubbed. Nice copy of this scarce book. . First Thus, Collectible. Cloth. Good -/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

UPS/RPS or Fedex available at additional cost upon request. All shipments to Mexico or Canada over four (4) pounds is subject to rate increase. Returns will be accepted on a limited basis. If any item arrives and is not in the condition described on Biblio, or is not the edition listed on the website, we will refund both the item and shipping both ways - upon receipt of the return package.
