Chicago: Root & Cady, 1863. Fair. 5, [1] p.: music; 34 cm. This is number 17 in the series "Work's Popular Songs & Ballads." Fourteen pieces from this series are illustrated on the title page. Published jointly with: New York: W.A. Pond & Co.; Philadelphia: Lee & Walker; and Boston: H. Tolman & Co. Front cover verso and back cover contain Root & Cady' advertisements for additional sheet music. Those listed inside the front cover contain lyrics and are all Civil War related. This is the sheet music for a song about a dying drummer during the Civil War, with music for a soprano and alto duet with piano accompaniment. In Fair Condition: disbound; old repair of last leaf with small loss of music and text; upper right-hand corner of title page stained; 4-cm. tear from lower edge of second leaf without loss of music; soiling and foxing.
