All edges gilt, (gilding a little faded in places), green silk ribbon bookmark. Small area of surface loss to lower board (see photo). Corner tips lightly rubbed. Occasional light spotting, mainly to free endpapers. Text and plates crisp and bright.Guy Toussaint Julien Carron (1760-1821) born in Rennes. Educator, writer and philanthropist who founded a number of social and educational institutions: schools, libraries and pharmacies while in exile in England. Deported to Jersey (1792-1796), on the Bourbon Restoration in 1814, Carron returned to France and became head of the Institut de Marie - Thérèse.

This title has the distinction of being the second Big Little Book ever published. The book is a reprint of the daily comic strip that appeared in the New York Daily News newspaper from October 1, 1931 to August 31, 1932. Scarce in any condition.Condition:Soiling/staining to the front cover; the spine has a stain at the left edge; small, light stain at the top-right corner of the back cover; the left and right edges of the bottom of the spine have chipped off.
