Angus and Robertson, Sydney . London, 1946. First Edition. Hardcover (1/2 Cloth 3/4 Boards). Very Good Condition/Good. Illustrator: Pixie O'Harris and Author. Illustrated front free endpaper, in a green colour. Colour illustrated frontispiece, which is a scene from the Walt Disney film Fantasia. The text is illustrated by Pixie O Harris and the author – in a brown colour, as is the text. 1/4 blue coloured cloth back strip with black coloured titles. 3/4 cream-coloured boards with back what coloured illustration and titles. Colour illustrated dustwrapper with red coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. "This charming fairy tale tells of the adventures of fairies, insects and birds, in a beautiful garden and of the fairy gardener who tends it." -- from the front fold over panel blurb. Softening to the back strip edges with rubbing of the book corners and lower book edges. Foxing to the top text block edges and top book edges with tanning of the other edges and pages. Previous owner's name to the top right hand corner of the free front endpaper and original bookseller's rubber stamp to the lower right hand corner of the front paste-down. Chipping to the dustwrapper corners and back strip edges. Results of insect activity can be seen to the top edge of the rear fold over panel, top edge of the rear panel and to the lower 2 inches of the front fold over panel crease. There is a 2 inch tear to the top left hand corner of the front panel with a similar sized tear to the top edge of the front fold over crease. Sunning of the back strip, rear fold over crease and rear panel. Some handling marks to the dustwrapper also present and browning of the verso. Size: 4to 9¾" - 12" tall. [10], 3 - 111, [1] pages,.
