Liturgy and Doctrine by Charles Davis - Paperback - 1960 - from ACP Family Bookstore and Biblio.com

Liturgy and Doctrine

by Davis, Charles

Condition: Very good

Excellent introduction to the central themes of the 20th century liturgical movement, before the Second Vatican Council. The chapters are originally articles from The Clergy Review, published in England. Well written, clear, and concise. This book shows that liturgical renewal is not primarily a question of incidentals but of doctrine, not of aesthetics but of faith. Though the pages have yellowed with age, the book is in good condition.

"a genuine theological work of real importance...one of the most refreshing books I have read in years." --Father Laurence Bright, O.P., Life of the Spirit

"...an excellent book, probably the best short account in English of the central role of the liturgy in Christian life." --Father Austin Flannery, O.P., Doctrine and Life.

"...this brief but pregnant study of the theology of the liturgy is the most important that has ever appeared." --Father J.D. Crichton, Liturgy.
