London: Methuen & Co. LTD (1971), 1971. First edition. Hardcover. Very near Fine/Very Good. 8vo. [7], viii, [1], 2-249 pp., [3]. Bound in light brown cloth with title and author in gold blocked in dark brown with gilt rules and publisher's name in gold on the spine. Strawson was an important philosopher of the twentieth century, and made significant contributions to philosophy of language, most notably in his opposition to the work of Bertrand Russell. This book collects a number of Strawson's most important essays on topics in the philosophy of language, largely focused upon reference and truth. A very near Fine book in a Very Good price-clipped dust jacket with a small narrow chip to the top of the front panel.
