About This Item
Boston, Massachusetts: Ticknor and Company, 1888. 5th or later Edition . Hardcover. Fair. A classic of utopian literature, wildly popular in its day & never out of print since its initial publication in 1888. By the same publishers as the First Edition (not the later reprints with the new publisher), this is the Sixth Edition, also c.1888, a hardcover with tan cloth-covered boards, gilt design to front, & black lettering to front & spine. No DJ, as issued (never had one). Condition is downgraded to only Fair due to these flaws: binding is cracked, as are both front & rear hinges. Stitching on the separate signatures is secure, but they are separating from each other. Both boards show some rippling, like damp staining, but no stains to any pages. NO writing/underlining/highlighting; NOT ex-lib. Basically a reading copy.
