Reproduced in the catalog are dozens of sepia-toned photographs selected from several hundred taken by Harry Fowler Woods during the groundbreaking 1905 diplomatic mission to the Far East made by William Howard Taft and an entourage of congressmen, senators, businessmen and prominent Cincinnati residents. Woods used a hand-held camera, then a new technology - his informal photos represent early examples of spontaneous, truly candid amateur photography. Essays describe the mission and a brief chronology as well as a map are provided. Descendants of both Woods and Taft contributed to the creation of the exhibition.
