Henry Holt & Company / G.P. Putnam's Sons. Hardcover. Fine/Fine. Signed by Author. As full a set of Sue Grafton Kinsey Millhone mystery novels as you'll ever find, __"A" is For Alibi__ to __"Y" is For Yesterday__. The volumes A-O were published in New York by Henry Holt & Company, while the M-Y volumes were published by G.P. Putnam's Sons. A-G and I are all later printings, but the H and J-Y volumes are all stated First Editions. Each volume is in hardcover format, bound in two-tone, paper over boards, cloth-backed format. Each has a crisp dust jacket no worse than Fine, many being in As New condition. A few novels have been gently, carefully read, but most appear unread. There are a few unopened pages in the A-H volumes but that can be pried open easily enough. __Kinsey and Me__, a collection of stories about the two, is followed by "A" is for Alibi; "B" is for Burglar; "C" is for Corpse; "D" is for Deadbeat; "E" is for Evidence; "F" is for Fugitive; "G" is for Gumshoe; "H" is for Homicide; "I" is for Innocent; "J" is for Judgment; "K" is for Killer; "L" is for Lawless; "M" is for Malice; "N" is for Noose; "O" is for Outlaw; "P" is for Peril; "Q" is for Quarry; "R" is for Ricochet; "S" is for Silence; "T" is for Trespass; "U" is for Undertow; "V" is for Vengeance; "W" is for Wasted; "X"; "Y" is for Yesterday. Kinsey & Me: stories. Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.

Hardback. Very Good. Cornish Brothers, Birmingham, 1880, [first edition, privately printed]; 8vo, pp [viii], (9)-577; good later binding in half brown pigskin, green marbled boards and end papers, spine decorated gilt and with raised bands, top edge gilt; lacks half title; slight browning or dust marking in places but nevertheless a very good copy of what was to become a minor Victorian classic, the story set in the time of Charles I. Shorthouse, 1834-1903, came from a Quaker manufacturing family in Birmingham (actually Edgbaston), duly entering the family business. However, he and his wife moved to the Church of England in 1861 identifying themselves with the "Oxford School of High Churchmen". He also began to suffer from epilepsy and duly left his industrial work to write, spending the decade to about 1876 working on "John Inglesant". As he was unable to interest a publisher Shorthouse decided to have the book printed on his own account and it appeared in 1880 in a… Read More

Description:
v+321 pages. Small octavo (7 3/4" x 5 1/2") bound in original publisher's black cloth with gilt lettering to cover and spine. First British edition. St. Ives: Being The Adventures of a French Prisoner in England (1897) is an unfinished novel by Robert Louis Stevenson. It was completed in 1898 by Arthur Quiller-Couch. Unable to write, Stevenson dictated thirty chapters of the novel to his stepdaughter as a diversion from his debilitating illness. He alternated dictating St. Ives and The Weir of Hermiston but gradually lost interest in the former. The plot concerns the adventures of the dashing Capitaine Jacques St. Ives, a Napoleonic soldier, after his capture by the British. Condition: Corners bumped and rubbed, shelf wear, hinges and spine heal moderately rubbed, previous owner's name on front end paper else a very good copy.
