DJ chipped along head, with inch-square notch missing from head of inner flap. Saturday Review for February 9, 1929, states, "One has to be tremendously interested in 'The Lovers of the Market-place' to pursue their unhappy adventures to their happy conclusion." - P. 670. Set in England in 1879, the text hobbles along with frequent stops for reflection on the language as to its meaning. Finally, the happy ending. 359 pp..
