Don Gummer inscribed, in blue ink, on the title page; "With regards - Don Gummer - 12/1/01." Another inscription, by Evansville Museum of Arts, History and Science Director John W. Streetman III, is neatly calligraphed on his Foreword page "For Dear Bridget - with love, John - March 2002." A crisp, clean, otherwise unmarked copy firmly bound in bright blue hardcover titled on black and white on front and spine. Endpapers are in a matching blue. Cover corners and spine ends are lightly rubbed, otherwise the book is fine. The color jacket is clean, bright and complete; it has light edgewear and a few dentings and small rub marks but no tears or chips. The jacket is in a clear archival protector. Don Gummer has been sculpting for over four decades - since the 80s he has concentrated on large free-standing works, often for outdoor display, using bronxe, stainless steel, aluminum and stained glass. (He is married, for over 30 years, to actress Meryl Streep.) This hardcover exhibition catalog contains an opening essay by Peter Plagens followed by 45 pages of color plates There are also exhibit listings and a brief bibliography.
