Frontispiece. x, 444 pp. 1 vols. 12mo. Lucan (39-65 A.D.) ws born in Corduba Sapin and was grandson of Seneca the Rhetorician and nephew of Seneca the Philospher. Suetonius did his biography. Dante considered his "Pharsalia" the greatest Latin epic after the Aeneid." Its title in MSS. is "De Bello Civili" in ten books of hexameter verse; it chronicles the war between Caesar and Pompey with a bias towards the latter.
