Leather Bound. Good. [WITH ORIGINAL ENGRAVING] Paris: Dunod, 1885. Hardcover in half-leather and marbled boards. First Edition. (4), portrait frontis, 266 pages. Original engraving by Leon Gaucherel after a portrait of Reynaud by Jules Joseph Lefebvre. LEON GAUCHEREL (French, 1816-1886) exhibited at the Salon de Paris from 1847-1879, winning medals on numerous occasions, and being decorated with the Légion d'honneur in 1864. Gaucherel's etching are in many museum collections, including those of Saintes, Semur, and Nice, as well as the V&A in London. LEONCE REYNAUD, born in Lyon in 1803 and died in Paris in 1880, was a French architect and engineer. He was Director of the School of Civil Engineering, overseeing the construction of many French lighthouses and beacons from 1846 to 1878. Light wear to boards, 19th c inscription on front blank page, else very good overall condition. NOT EX-LIBRARY. (frnc)
