To fearless Madeline, a trip to the hospital is a splendid adventure. One of the most loved books in children’s literature, this story was a Caldecott Honor Book in 1940 and a subsequent book in the Madeline series, Madeline's Rescue , earned a Caldecott Medal in 1954.
