BINDING/CONDITION: thin boards with paste-on art, red cloth at the spine; one small tape repair to the reverse side of the title page, otherwise the book is in Good condition; the slipcase is in very poor condition.. oblong format: about 9.75 inches tall by 12.75 inches wide . Illustrated endpapers. Description: Printed in Czechoslovakia, the entire text is on heavy paper, with heavily inked illustrations, giving vibrant colors. Josef Kozisek (1861-1933) was a Czechoslovakian poet and educator. He wrote poems both for adults and children (this book is not poetry). Rudolf Mates (1881-1966) was a Czechoslovakian illustrator. He was also the illustrator of A Forest Story, another book by Kozisek. Mates also illustrated The Cock and the Hen, and Nursery Rhymes from Bohemia.

Tale of a poor mouse family, with exceptionally colorful illustrations on every page. Oblong, measuring about 9.5 inches tall and 12.5 inches wide, colorful covers and endpapers, no dustjacket but with clear plastic mylar protector. Covers lightly rubbed, edges more heavily so with some light rubthrough at the corners, very minor fraying to spine ends, hinges internally cracked but secure, pages a little age-darkened but clean, three inch closed tear (without paper loss) to one page, no names or other markings.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good. Oblong 4to.
