Red printed dj with small edge tearsmostly to the rear panel. Very clean, a nice copy. Cloth. A bright clean copy. Originally published in French (La Prestideigitation sans Bagages) in eight volumes including 1850 conjuring feats, it was termed "one of the most remarkable works on magic ever published". Planned for publication in English translation in seven volumes, this is the first and only volume published thus far. The original work was encyclopedic in scope. This volume covers "tricks with matches, animals, rings, wands, candles, and balls" according to the spine panel.

Dr. Jules Dhotel (or D'Hotel) (1879 - 1967), a doctor by profession, was a musician, sculptor and magician. He would perform as "Hedolt". He chaired FISM in 1947 and 1951. Dhotel was the editor of "Le Journal de la prestidigitation", the magazine for the Association Syndicale des Artistes Prestidigitateurs (ASAP). (magicpedia).
