[xvi], 304, 301*-304*,305-656, 657*-668*, 657-708, [20] pp. Pagination irregular, text complete, portrait frontispiece lacking. Octavo (7-1/2" x 5"). Contemporary calf, rebacked in period style, raised bands and lettering piece to spine, endpapers renewed. Some rubbing to boards and extremities with light wear to corners. Moderate toning to text, some leaves have faint dampstaining and foxing, light soiling to title page. $100. * Later edition. This fascinating work describes Great Britain's resources, currency, weights and measures, laws, customs, faith and inhabitants. It also lists the current holders of various courtly, judicial and religious offices. The first editions were produced by John Chamberlayne's Father, Edward, the first in 1669. 35 editions followed, the last in 1755. English Short-Title Catalogue T54585.

Founded in 1983, The Lawbook Exchange, Ltd. is devoted to all aspects of law and its history. It has two main components. The Antiquarian Book Department offers a wide range of Continental, British, and American books, manuscripts, and ephemera from the medieval era through the twentieth century. The Publications Department offers reprints of over 1,000 landmark or otherwise interesting works, many with newly commissioned introductions, and several original publications. The Lawbook Exchange also offers appraisals and provides assistance with collection development.
