Thick octavo (20.5cm.); original cloth in orange decorative dust jacket printed in greyish-green, orange topstain; [8],330pp. Minor chips and a few tiny losses to jacket extremities, none approaching text, general darkening to jacket flaps and spine, some minor toning and gentle shelfwear to cloth extremities, two small and shallow gouges to top textblock edge, contemporary gift inscription to front free endpaper, else Near Very Good and sound. Runaway bestselling novel about a man whose life is saved at the expense of another man's and the way in which the survivor compensates for the life of the man lost. Twice adapted into film (and once into a televsion series), the first in 1935, starring Irene Dunne, Robert Taylor, and Charles Butterworth; the second, in 1954, starred Jane Wyman and Rock Hudson.

Magnificent Obsession is a 1929 novel by Lloyd C. Douglas. It was one of three of his books that were eventually made into blockbuster motion pictures, the other two being The Robe and The Big Fisherman.
