About This Item
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Very Good. N.D.. First Edition. Softcover. No date or publication information. Circa 1970 (?). 200 pp. Indexed. Illustrated. This is a collection of primarily American recipes and the how-to's of cooking said recipes and using various ingredients in Malaysia's very humid climate. As an example "Yeast" which can be found frozen at the meat counter, active (live) dry yeast should not be used as it is usually dead. Flour is another example where typical "open-bag-measure" does not work; the flour must be dried in the oven first. There are also some hints and tips about availability and use of local foods. Recipes are varied from Bean Burrito's to Swedish Chicken Pot Soup and Norwegian Christmas Bread. Sections divisions: Appetizers and Beverages; Soups & Salads; Breads; Main Dishes; Desserts; Malaysian; Men's; Etc. Sample recipes from Malaysian - Sambal Goreng Udang (chili-fried shrimp) with introduction; Malaysian Style Beef Satay with Peanut Sauce. The AAM is still providing social and charity opportunity to Americans. Pencil marks on the first page otherwise clean. Modestly worn edges. ; 8vo .
