About This Item

New York, NY Atlantic Monthly Press, 1989. Hardcover First Edition [1989]; First Printing, so stated. First Edition [1989]; First Printing, so stated. Near Fine/ Near Fine. Book shows 1/4" whitened indentation at front board; light shelf-wear. Binding square and secure; text clean. Dustwrapper shows light shelf-wear. Very close to 'As New'. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 8vo. 291pp. Hardcover with DJ. Hal Andrews is a ``construction artist'' trying to make it in New York while waiting to come into a trust fund. A funny book that actually will make you laugh out loud. Beautifully written with engaging and unexpected characters. Peter J Smith is a wonderful writer. Even after several readings, it still causes me to laugh aloud. One sees the absurdity of life in this book and, upon closing it, realizes how beautiful that absurdity is. It is a rare gem in a slough of mediocrity.
