Illustrated dustwrapper (wraparound) with black coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. The author, who won the Pulitzer Prize in the spring of 1964 for his coverage of the Vietnamese War gives in this comprehensive and extraordinary personal account of his 15 months in South Vietnam. ''He cites chapter and verse in his indictment of the conduct and leadership of the war, of the delusions of the American military and diplomatic leaders, and of the falsified and misleading statistics listed on newspaper correspondents and readers.'' -- from the front fold over panel blurb. Softening of the top back strip edge with a little rubbing of the book corners. Age toning of the text block edges and pages with some foxing spots to the top text block edge. Creasing of the dustwrapper edges and rubbing of the panels. There is a 0.25'' tear to the top right hand corner of the back strip which a previous owner has supported with tape to the verso. Some white marks to the rear spine gut edge and rear panel and some faint foxing marks are visible. This is the first UK edition. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. [13], 4 - 323, [3] pages,.
