Of particular interest is the description of the sound system installed in the Manhattan Opera House for Max Reinhardt’s lavish pageant of Jewish biblical history and persecution using the orchestration and music of Leopold Stokowski (mostly lost). The famed production attempted to alert the world to the plight of German Jews under Nazism, and featured an elaborate five level set designed by Norman Bel Geddes.
