Blank before half-title, blank at end; pp.[2]+[x]+429+[iii]; blue rough buckram blocked and lettered gilt on front cover and spine; t.e.g., fore-edges uncut, lower-edges rough-trimmed. Very slight spotting to back cover; end-papers embrowned; slight foxing to half-title, title, and uncut fore-edges; otherwise a fine copy of a difficult title. The probable first issue, some copies having the fore-edges rough-trimmed and the lower-edges fully so. All books listed by Robert Temple are first editions unless otherwise stated.
