New York: The Manhattan Company, 1929. Hardcover. 8vo. Brown textured paper over boards with gilt spine lettering, pictorial dust jacket. xvii, 269pp. Frontispiece, line drawings. Near fine/very good. Ownership name/address on front flyleaf; jacket a bit edgeworn, with a few small edge chips along top and slightly sunned spine -- but complete and overall attractive. First edition. Mayor James J. Walker provides an introductory "Appreciation" to this enjoyable history that ranges from 1609 to 1930. Great period piece: The Big Apple on the eve of the Great Depression. Lovely copy, with delightful jacket graphics.
