London : J M Dent & Co, 1906 A very good set in the original decorative cloth bindings, edited by R Brimley Johnson, and with 12 colour plates by H M Brock. 4th edition thus. The bindings have gilt titles to spine and front board. The top page edges are gilt; the remaining edges are uncut. Original page markers are present. With half titles, showing that they were volumes V and VI of Brimley Johnson's series; colour frontispieces; decorative title pages; listing of illustrations; and text with head and tailpieces. Volume I has a preface. Vol I 245pp; Vol II 249pp. All the plates are present as called for.Vol I has a slight bump to the bottom corner of the front board and the spine is slightly dulled and with a small mark at the bottom. Vol II has a small bump to the top corner of the front board and the spine and board edges are slightly dulled. Contents of both are in very good clean condition. The stitching is visible between pp10 and 11 in Vol I but the volume is sound and tight.

Mansfield Park is a novel by Jane Austen, written at Chawton Cottage between 1812 and 1814. It was published in July 1814 by Thomas Egerton, who published Jane Austen's two earlier novels, Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice. When the novel reached a second edition, its publication was taken over by John Murray, who also published its successor, Emma.
