New York: By the author, 1892. First Edition. Very good. Manuscript; single sheet, folded, 6 3/4 x 4 1/2; pp. [4]; laid paper, illustrated in pencil and ink on first page only, with a 6-line text below; a few spots, mostly to margins; upper right corner trimmed; very good condition. An interesting, curcus-related ephemera piece, it was most probably created as a memento to one family's visit to the big top. It showed a somewhat-stylized depiction of a circus tent, a gentleman on a casual stroll, and a father (Chip) with four small children surrounding him. The text read: "Chorus of little Chips - 'Oh, Papa, who is that nice looking man, that just went by?' Big Chip - 'That is Jody Hamilton, the press agent of Barnum's Circus. He is going to send me four seats for the show next week. I told him to address them to 113 West 133rd Street'."
