A woman student's analysis of "Elements of the Philosophy of the Human Mind" by the Scottish Enlightenment philosopher Dugald Stewart, written for a philosophy course at Troy (NY) Female Seminary. Stewart's treatise was originally published in 1792. The student, Frances A. Frances Rousseau married Rev. Emma Willard and Her Pupils: Or, Fifty Years of Troy Female Seminary, 1822-1872, p 383). The journal is additionally signed at end "Fanny Rousseau West Troy" and "Emily T. Browning Mobile Ala"
