The Folio Society, London, 2000,. see description. large format (295x225mm), 263pp, smooth paper throughout, title page illustrated by a double-page colour reproduction of Waldseemuller's world map of 1507, 186 illustrations, apart from two wood engravings all in colour, photographs of the later explorers, paintings of the early ones and of ships and people found, and what must be every early map there ever was, endpapers with a pictorial map of the North Atlantic by Jan van Doetecum, c.1594, boards covered in sea-green cloth, title gilt on spine, upper board with an all-over decoration centred by a gilt and black very elaborate pictorial detail, slip-case covered by part of Willem Blaeu's very detailed pictorial map of America of c.1630,
