[Jerome Robbins, Association Copy] Meyer, Franz, Marc Chagall, Life and Work. New York: Harry Abrams, Inc., 1963. 775 pages. No dust wrapper. Gray cloth boards stamped with reproduction of Chagall's work. This is a remarkable association copy between two legendary American dance and Broadway choreographers. From the Collection of Anna Sokolow, bearing her stamp, this book was presented to her by her close friend of many years Jerome Robbins, signed and inscribed as "Jerome Robbins June '64 Tevye," who then inscribed this book a second time, later, in a darker ink, "to Anna -- with my love to a dearest of friends – Jerry." Fiddler on the Roof opened in 1964 and held the record for the longest running show on Broadway until its 3,000 performances record was surpassed. "Tevye" is the legendary character around whom the show revolves. Head of the spine slightly chipped, otherwise very good in a solid, tight stamped, decorated heavy cloth binding. LC number: 63-19571
