She was a German writer best known for her works of historical fiction. They were quite popular for a relatively short time. Many, if not all, were translated into English. This novel was translated from the German by W, L, Gage. The books in this set are all bound in red extended cloth over the spine with gilt titles, gilt partially intact; boards covered with green cloth, quite clean, corners lightly scuffed, some edges rubbed, sewn binding is tight, solid and square.
